Anna should launch Mumbai-like agitation in UP: Digvijay

Lucknow, April 22: Seeking a help from social activist Anna Hazare to launch a ‘Satyagraha’ movement in Uttar Pradesh against corruption, Congress general Secretary and in-charge of Uttar Pradesh affairs, Digvijay Singh, today said that Anna should launch his Maharashtra-like agitation in UP too.

”Congress is ready to support Anna Hazare, if he launches ‘satyagraha’ like he did against the ministers of Maharashtra on corruption issue,” he said.

Talking to mediapersons, Mr Singh here said corruption in the Mayawati regime has reached its peak and Anna should start a movement against it.

Anna Hazare would be reaching UP on April 29 at Varanasi and he will address public meetings at Varanasi on the same day. On the next day, he will be in Sultanpur and on May 1 Anna will be in Lucknow.

He also announced that Congress will file PILs, demanding CBI probe into the murder of two Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and in the sale of sugarmills to private companies at a throwaway price.

Mr Singh said that corruption in the health department had taken the lives of the two CMOs and removal of two UP ministers after the murder proved that money was the main reason behind the killings.
