State bifurcation process is nearing completion with related committees expediting the process.
Union Home Secretary Anil Goswamy, who is on two-day tour made a visit to Assembly premises this morning and held discussions with its secretary Raja Sadaram on bifurcation of Assembly as well as Council. Earlier, he is said to have closeted with Governor ESL Narasimhan and taken a decision to wind up the process by May 16.
Interestingly, the results of general elections will be announced on the same day. And hardly two weeks left for the two States to form their respective governments from June 2. Anil Goswamy is understood to have asked the Assembly Secretary to complete all measures to divide the buildings. It is being stated that Telangana State Government will get the present Assembly building used for its last session, the old Assembly is being given to residuary state of Andhra Pradesh. Similarly the existing Council will be given for Telangana State and a spacious dining hall adjacent to Jubilee Hall will be used as a Council for Andhra Pradesh.
As per Governor’s directive, Assembly and Council were divided among Telangana and Seemandhra states and will be functional post General Elections. In Secretariat, allocation of buildings and blocks was already done. While Telangana Government was given A, B, C and D blocks, AP Government was allotted J, K, L and South H and North H blocks. Existing C block will be used by Chief Minister of Telangana and South H Block is being spruced up for AP Chief Minister.
According to informed sources, Chief Secretary PK Mohanty has submitted a detailed report on allocation of space in Secretariat, Assembly, Council, distribution of officials, files, assets, liabilities and others to the Centre and Union Home Secretary in this regard. Anil is said to have directed the Chief Secretary and DGP to take apt measures on smooth distribution of officials among the two States. The process should be wound up by May 16 or 20, he is said to have directed the officials.
