Angry with friend, youth murders him

New Delhi, March 16: A 21-year-old youth allegedly murdered his friend as he was angry over the victim informing his brother-in-law that he had not returned Rs 10,000 borrowed from him, police said today. Rajkumar was apprehended from Dakshinpuri on Sunday for allegedly killing Ram Prashad Yadav (25) in the lift machine room of DLF shopping mall, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H G S Dhaliwal said.

Yadav was identified on the basis of a small piece of paper containing a bank account number of Bank of Baroda in UP”s Ambedkar Nagar. During investigations, it came to light that the account number found in the pocket of the deceased belonged to one Randhir Kumar who directed police to Anil.

Anil identified the body as that of Yadav. “Detailed enquiries were conducted and surveillance was kept over the activities of the friends, colleagues and relatives of the deceased and the police zeroed in on Raj Kumar,” Dhaliwal said.

“Kumar started working with a contractor Lal Bahadur who undertakes the work of fitting the lifts. Yadav also used to work with him there and thus he became friendly with him.

He had borrowed Rs 10,000 from the deceased. “After sometime the deceased started demanding his money back.

The deceased even informed Rakesh, the brother-in-law of the accused, which annoyed him,” he said. On March 12, Kumar allegedly hit the deceased from behind with a shuttering rod and then dragged the body to the lift room, the police official said.
