Anganwadi workers to get wage hike: AP Cabinet

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to hike the wages of Anganwadi workers from Rs 4,200 to Rs 7,000, and the wages of Anganwadi helpers would be hiked to Rs 4,500.

The decision was taken at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada.

It has also been decided to replace the conventional street lights with LED lights in 659 villages across the state.

The Cabinet decided to implement a new sand policy with effect from February 1.

As per the policy, Mines Department would monitor tendering and auctioning of sand reaches in the state which was earlier looked after by Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty under Department of Rural Development.

Those constructing individual toilets and houses under the government schemes could bring sand from nearby canals, streams and `nalas` on bullock carts without paying money.
