Hyderabad, April 10: It was an irony of sorts in the telugu Desam Party (tDP). Party senior leader K Yerran Naidu will submit a representation to Srikrishna Committee tomorrow in Delhi opposing bifurcation of the State.
Yerran Naidu, was one of the members of the five-member committee of the party, recommended to take a pro-telangana stand in 2008. Based on the recommendations of the committee, the Politburo took a U-turn and supported separate demand. A delegation of the party headed by Yerran Naidu submitted the Politburo resolution copy to Pranab Mukherjee saying that the was in favour of separate Telangana.
The same Yerran Naidu, defying the party’s stand and even his own observation, is now submitting a memorandum to Srikrishna Committee opposing the bifurcation of the State.
“the party took a pro-telangana stand and I have just conveyed the party’s stand to Pranab Committee. Now, the representation being submitted by Andhra leaders will reflect the aspirations of people of Andhra and Rayalaseema,” Yerran Naidu said today defending his stand.
He said that tDP took a pro-telangana stand, but the Andhra and Rayalaseema leaders were submitting a report on behalf of people of the Andhra region, he added.
Though, the Andhra and Rayalaseema leaders were supporting the United State theory, they are divided over submitting the representation to the Committee. Andhra leaders will submit two separate representations to the committee tomorrow in Delhi. Leaders of Andhra and Rayalaseema (excluding MLAs) headed by K Yerran Naidu will submit a 160-page memorandum containing 19 chapters.
Meanwhile, MLAs from Andhra and Rayalaseema headed by P Keshav, D Narendra Kumar and others will submit another representation.
Speaking to reporters here today, Yerran Naidu said that Srikrishna Committee should evolve a mechanism on how to sort out the 60,000 representations, which runs into several pages. Some reports were in regional languages, but the Committee should announce how it plans to go about on the reports.
On Congress MP Harshakumar’s separate Andhra demand, Yerran Naidu said that every individual has his own opinion.
