Andhra: Trust motion or mid-term polls?

Hyderabad, January 29: The talk of the town today is – will there be a trust motion in the Assembly and will there be mid-term elections. The heated debate follows the challenges and counter challenges by ministers and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy loyalists daring one another to be the first to take the initiative. But neither is coming off the high horse and implementing their threat and as a result there is high voltage talk and very little action.

TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu:

We have no immediate plans to move a no-trust motion against N Kiran Kumar Reddy government. We take decisions basing on the opinion of the people. He, however, said that MLAs, who had won on one party, were working with another person. It was up to them whether they should continue doing so and what the party leadership should do about them.

PRP president K Chiranjeevi:

People are against immediate polls. Kiran’s government would complete its full term and there is no threat to his government. Pulling down the government means forcing mid-term polls on the people. It would burden the exchequer. In the event of the state government slipping into minority, the PRP would back the government. So there is no threat to the government.

Former chief minister K Rosaiah:

People are not interested in mid-term elections. Challenges and counter challenges are common in politics. There is no possibility of any party moving a no-trust or trust vote in the Assembly in the present circumstances. Political parties are trying to derive political mileage by talking about trust motions. It is not time for no-trust motion.
