Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today charged previous governments with having deceived Telangana region resulting in drought situation and migration of poor to towns and cities.
Inaugurating lakes restoration works, as part of Mission Kakatiya program, at Pedda Cheruvu at Chandupatla under Nakirekal mandal in Nalgonda district here along with minister G Jagadish Reddy, MP B Narsaiah Goud, deputy chairman N Vidyasagar Rao and others, the Chief Minister allocated Rs 2 crore for the lake restoration and development works. He said Chandupatla area is noted for the history of Queen Rudrama Devi, who fought a valiant battle and died there.
Hence, the State government will install a statue of Rudrama Devi and conduct celebrations on regular basis. On completion of restoration work, the Pedda Cheruvu will cater to the drinking and irrigation water needs of eight villages, he said. Directing the local ministers, MLAs, MLCs and MPs to participate in the lake restoration works, KCR said he would soon conduct a review meeting on projects under the purview of River Musi and Nalgonda district soon.
The Chief Minister accused the Andhra rulers of ignoring the recommendations of Bachawat Tribunal allocating Telangana with 265 tmc (Godavari 175 tmc and Krishna 90 tmc). “Had Andhra rulers not dumped us, Telangana would not have adversely affected in the agriculture and irrigation sectors, he charged. He also attributed the present pathetic condition of lakes in the region to deliberate attempts of the rulers, who had shown partisan attitude towards Telangana. (NSS)
