Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh is soon to receive 1,500 electric buses under the phase-1 by the Centre as a part of introducing and promoting energy efficient vehicles, reported Hans.
Saurabh Kumar, Managing Director of Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) (Union Ministry of Power) said the EE vehicles are ready to be delivered to Andhra Pradesh State.
Saurabh spoke after signing the agreement with AP on EE Buildings at Secretariat yesterday. He said utmost priority would be given to AP to provide the state with 1,500 electric buses in its cities in the first phase.
He said, “All arrangements are being made for establishing charging stations for the successful operation of energy-efficient electric vehicles,” and the vehicles are ready to be delivered to AP.
Earlier the AP government has written to the Centre for e-buses supply after successfully running electric bus tests last September.
APSRTC has planned to introduce e-mini buses on Tirumala ghat road and also in Vijayawada. The RTC officials have also examined the e-buses which are introduced for the first time in the country in Himachal Pradesh.
The AP Government is requesting the Centre to increase the subsidy amount on e-bus from Rs 85 Lakhs since each e-bus costs Rs 3 Crores.
Expressing happiness over the implementation of energy efficient buses, Saurabh Kumar said, “AP is pioneer in taking up several EE programmes such as UJALA, EE TUBE Light programme, LED Street lighting in Urban and Rural areas and now Energy Star government Buildings,” he said.
