Andhra Gov expresses anguish over violent incidents

Hyderabad, December 24: Andhra Pradesh Governor Narayan Datt Tiwari today expressed his anguish over the violent incidents in the Telangana region following the Centre’s latest announcement on the statehood issue.

“The Governor expressed his anguish when Chief Minister K Rosaiah apprised him, over phone, of the prevailing situation in the state today,” Home Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy said.

Briefing newsmen at the end of a high-level review meeting on the law and order situation, Reddy said the Chief Minister has directed the police to be “uncompromising” on maintaining peace and law and order situation in the state.

“This is an issue (creation of a separate state) that is not in the hands of the state government. There is no objection if anyone carries out an agitation in a peaceful manner,” the minister said.
