Andhra flood: BJP demands enquiry into lapses

Hyderabad, October 15: The BJP today demanded a judicial enquiry into alleged lapses of the Andhra Pradesh government in acting upon a warning on floods.

“Government totally failed to take precautionary steps despite flood warning issued by Central Water Commission (CWC) well in advance of devastating flood on October 2 which caused heavy damage to crops and properties besides taking 65 lives in five districts,” BJP state chief Bandaru Dattatreya told media here.

“A delegation of the party had visited Srisailam dam two days ago and had interaction with the officials, including chief engineer,” he said.

The party learnt from Dam authorities that CWC had issued warning to Kunrool district collector and authorities concerned about possible heavy floods, Dattatreya claimed.
