Andhra Cong leaders tone down Jagan rhetoric

Hyderabad, September 17: Congress leaders in Andhra Pradesh are beginning to reconcile to the fact that the party high command will not succumb to any pressure tactics in making Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy the chief minister of the state.

KVP Ramachandra Rao, Rajya Sabha member and family friend of the late Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, held a series of meetings with ministers, MLAs and other leaders of the pro- Jagan camp on Tuesday and Wednesday.

He reportedly advised them to be patient and wait for the high command’s decision.

” Till such time, it’s better not to resort to any pressure tactics,” he is believed to have told them.

Speaking to mediapersons on Wednesday, Ramachandra Rao said Jagan would be able become the chief minister only if the high command felt he deserved the post. ” We have to wait for the high command’s decision,” he said.

Several ministers who met Rao also expressed a similar opinion. Health minister Danam Nagender, a die- hard Jagan supporter, declared that he would abide by any decision taken by the high command.

The MLAs are under pressure from Congress workers in their respective constituencies, who have been demanding Jagan be made the CM.
