Andhra: CM Naidu offers prayers at Kanaka Durga Temple with family

Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday offered prayers at goddess Kanaka Durga Temple on the Indrakeelaadri hillock in Vijayawada.

He was accompanied by his wife Bhuvaneswari, daughter-in-law Brahmani and grandson Devansh. Temple executive officer V Koteswaramma, Temple Trust Board members, district collector Lakshmikantam and other officials received the Chief Minister and his family members with Purna Kumbha and Vedic chantings.

While speaking on the occasion, Naidu said that he prayed for the well being of the state, better living of the people, and for all round development of Andhra Pradesh.

He said that he further prayed for better rainfall, completion of Polavaram project, interlinking of rivers, better law and order in the state. The Chief Minister said steps are being taken to develop Vijayawada as a religious tourist spot.

Meanwhile, for Navratri, the idol of Goddess Kanyaka Parameshwari in Visakhapatnam’s Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari Temple has been adorned and decorated with cash worth Rs 2.50 crore along with four kg gold.

On Sunday, the Goddess was draped in a shimmering gold saree decorated with gold jewellery. There was a huge rush of devotees at the temple on Sunday to catch a glimpse of the deity.
Chief priest Kumara Sarma said that Navratri festival was the most auspicious time for worshipping the nine manifestations of Goddess Durga.

“Among all the nine days, Saptami, Astami, Navami and Dasmi are the most favourable days. Several devotees and businessmen contributed the money and jewellery to decorate the Goddess. The surrounding jewellery shops did their bit in providing the jewellery. Last year, we adorned the goddess with about `1.2 crore in cash,” Sarma said.
