Anarchy in Kashmir due to usurping of citizens’ rights – Prof. Hameeda Nayeem’s address in Siasat

Hyderabad: Kashmiri youths are forced to oppose the wrong policies of Central Govt. They are of the opinion that the terms and condition of affiliation of Kashmir with India should be retained. This was stated by Prof. Hameeda Nayeem of Kashmir Center for Social and Developmental Studies at a seminar held at Golden Jubilee Hall of Siasat Urdu Daily yesterday on the “Present situation of Kashmir and Govt.”. During her address she blamed that the ruling PDP is functioning at the instance of Central Govt. due to which the youths of Kashmir are forced to agitate. She mentioned that Ms. Mahboba Mufti had raised the slogan, “Vote PDP to keep BJP away from power”. Prof. Hameeda Nayeem also told that the affiliation of Kashmir with India is conditional which included that Govt. of India will take care of Defense, External Affairs and Communications. But Govt. of India violated these conditions and posted 9 lakh soldiers. The anarchy in Kashmir is due to usurping the rights of the people of Kashmir. The situation in Kashmir could be brought under control only when the people of Kashmir get justice. Giving the details of historic pact, Prof. Hameeda said that petitions are being filed in Supreme Court for the cancellation of Article 370 whereas its cancellation is not under the jurisdiction of Supreme Court. She said that the people of Kashmir have been struggling for getting their rights since 1975. Many a time, promises were made for the amendment of the laws but at no time a declaration was made that plebiscite would be conducted by India whereas this clauses is included in the pact. She clearly mentioned that the people of Kashmir don’t want to go to Pakistan but they want to get justice.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily presided over the seminar. Mr. Farooq Husain, TRS MLC was also present in the meeting.
