New Delhi: Holding West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee responsible for the Malda rampage, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Siddharth Nath Singh on Monday hit out at the state government for the detention of a three-member fact-finding team of the BJP at the Malda Railway Station.
“On 3rd of January, leaflets got distributed, over a lakh people got collected. The administration does not do anything. When a three-member delegation of BJP goes to Malda to know what the facts are on the ground, they are detained at the Malda station. It just goes to show the autocratic, the anarchist, and the dictatorship of Mamata Banerjee.her being blind towards the facts,” Singh told ANI.
“She wants to cover up and protect her own criminals, who have been involved in smuggling of opium drugs as well as fake currency. The entire Kaliachak rampage is instigated and planned by the state administration,” he added.
The delegation arrived in Malda at 6:15 a.m. in the morning and in a span of three hours returned back to Kolkata.
“Our purpose was to restore confidence that nothing will happen in future. But due to the pressure from the state government the District Magistrate said that section144 has been promulgated and we can’t go to that area. We were not here to instigate, but to console people. They said that we are public figures and by our appearance, it will be a problem,” committee chairman S.S. Ahluwalia told ANI.
The delegation is expected to party president Amit Shah about their detention.
