Anand Mahindra, Banmali Agrawala appointed to USIBC Board

Anand Mahindra, Ellen Lord and Banmali Agrawal were Thursday appointed as board members of the US India Business Council (USIBC).

While Mahindra is chairman & managing director of Mahindra & Mahindra; Ellen Lord is president & CEO of Extron Systems; and Banmali Agrawala is president & CEO, South Asia, General Electric.

The decision in this regard was taken by the USIBC at its annual spring meeting here.
“Anand Mahindra, Ellen Lord, and Banmali Agrawala bring an excellent combination of both business and civic leadership experience to this position,” said USIBC chairman and MasterCard President and CEO Ajay Banga.

“They will undoubtedly provide valuable leadership to USIBC and its members,” he said.
As members of the board of directors, Mahindra, Lord, and Agrawala will help promote the policy advocacy priorities of USIBC and advice members and senior USIBC staff on a wide range of topics, a USIBC statement said.

In 1991, Mahindra was appointed deputy Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s leading producer of tractors and off-road vehicles.

He initiated a comprehensive change program to make the company an efficient and aggressive competitor in the new liberalized economic environment in India.

He became a managing director in 1997, and was promoted to Vice Chairman in 2003. He was appointed Chairman of the board in 2012.

Lord was named as president & CEO of Textron Systems in October 2012. She is also a member of Textron’s Executive Leadership Team.

Agrawala is the president & CEO for GE South Asia and is responsible for all of GE’s operations in the region.

A veteran in the energy domain, Banmali has over 29 years of global experience.

He has served in several senior leadership roles in the Wartsila Group and in The Tata Power Group.

He is acknowledged in the industry to have built and led successful teams that have driven business growth globally.PTI
