Amritsar’s Golden Temple lit up on Guru Nanak Jayanti

Amritsar (Punjab): On the auspicious day of 548th birthday of Guru Nanak, Amritsar’s Golden Temple was spectacularly lit up.

The famed temple witnessed huge rush of devotees, who gathered in droves to witness the fireworks.

Security was tightened around the temple and ‘Langars’ were arranged for the visitors.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the nation on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti and recalled the life path and teachings of the Sikh Guru.

“On Guru Nanak Jayanti we bow to the venerable Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and recall his noble thoughts,” Modi wrote on Twitter.

In an over one-minute long video message, the prime minister shared his thoughts on the Sikh Guru and urged all to imbibe his teachings.

President Ram Nath Kovind also greeted the nation and urged all to follow on the footsteps of the Sikh Guru.

Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Guru Nanak Gurpurab, celebrates the birth of the first Guru Nanak, and is considered one of the most sacred festivals among Sikhs. (ANI)
