Amritraj slides down rankings

New Delhi, July 13: A failed bid at the Hall of Fame Championships in Newport resulted in Prakash Amritraj’s ranking plummeting to 254, a huge loss of 95 positions.

Amritraj had lost in the second round of the event, where he had a runner-up finish last year.

India’s top men’s singles players Somdev Devvarman also slipped three places to be 135 in the latest ATP rankings, issued today.

Yuki Bhambri took a huge jump of 111 positions to stand at 531 rank which made him India’s fourth highest ranked player followed by Vishnu Vardhan (548), who won his his first ITF title on Saturday.

Sania, who recently got engaged, gained one position in singles to be at 85 but lost one in doubles rankings, where she stands at 42.

Meanwhile Leander Paes (6) and Mahesh Bhupathi (8) continued to be in the top-10 zone as their rankings remained unchanged
