Among the Telangana believers, KCR is king

Warangal, December 17: In circles of the clever, K Chandrasekhar Rao suffers from a credibility gap. But here among the believers, he is unquestioned. Though there are differing perceptions about his machiavellian tactics, most of the assemblage think he is the best bet to achieve their dream state.

Listen to R Shankar, a teacher from Warangal: “See the crowd for yourself. He gave a call and people are here in lakhs. That is what a leader is all about.” He himself has no doubts about KCR’s intentions.

“Though our dream is taking time to come true, KCR cannot be blamed. He has his own way of dealing with the challenges that crop up from time to time. Sometimes he is misunderstood.

Sometimes he confuses you.

But in the end he is a leader who speaks for Telangana.” Some think it is necessary at this point of time to have faith in the leader. Mangali Usha Rani, also from Warangal, set up tea stall at the Mahagarjana venue, tending to the thirsty. She likened the T movement to a family.

“You have to trust the head of the family. You should not weaken him. You should realise that as the head of the family, he knows his responsibilities.” Those who believe that a Telangana state is possible only through political maneouvring think KCR is doing fine. “KCR wants Telangana.

There are no two opinions about it. He started a movement. He then transformed it into a political party since he knows Telangana i s possibl e only through politics,” says S Krishna from Sadasivangar in Nizamabad district.

There are fits and starts in the movement, and there are times of uncertainty, said a retired employee from Madhira in Khammam district.

“I am sure it is because of KCR that the movement is still alive,” he said.

G Narender from Kolanupaka in Nalgonda district also has faith in KCR: “Even before 2001, there were movements for Telangana but they didn’t get going. It was KCR who struggled tenaciously for 10 years. That itself is a great achievement.

Could any leader move the Centre make it announce Telangana as KCR did?” he says.
