New Delhi: South African cricketer Hashim Amla became the fastest player to score 23 ODI hundreds. The record was previously held by Indian cricketer Virat Kohli. Amla took only 132 innings to score his 23 ODI hundreds while Kohli reached there in his 157th innings. Amla scored a brilliant 110 to guide his team to a huge total of 343 runs against West Indies. Later on Imran Tahir picked up 7/45 to help South Africa to an easy win over Windies.
The innings also lifted Amla to the top of the tri-series’ run-scoring charts (225 at 56.25), and into the top seven centurions in ODI history. Ahead of him on the list is a who’s who of ODI cricket, with de Villiers (24), Kumar Sangakkara (25), Virat Kohli (25), Sanath Jayasuriya (28), Ricky Ponting (30) and Tendulkar making up the top six.
