BJP national president Amit Shah after successfully managed to induct some popular leaders from Kerala and Tamil Nadu into the party fold has now turned the spotlight on Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
According to BJP leaders, some senior Congress leaders from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are is likely to switch loyalties in favour of saffron party.
“Amit Shah is scheduled arrive in Vijayawada on January 28 and will address the party’s general body meeting on January 29,” said Som Vir Raju, BJP national executive member.
Amit Shah’s campaign in Tamil Nadu and Kerala is said to have reaped rich reserves for the BJP as Tamil actor and former Union minister Napoleon quit the DMK to join the NDA in Tamil Nadu and popular Malayalam actors Suresh Gopi Lalu Alex met Shah in Kochi with an intention to join the BJP ranks.
Many political biggies in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are reportedly waiting to join the national party.
The last CM of united Andhra Pradesh, N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s, Botsa Satyanarayana, former president of Andhra Pradesh Congress are the names which are doing the rounds.
Former prominent MPs too are intent to join includes Sabbam Hari, Harsha Kumar and Lagadapati Rajgopal.
In Telangana, former Congress MP from Bhuvanagiri, Komitireddy Rajagopal Reddy is likely to join BJP.
M Raghunanda Rao, spokesperson of Telangana BJP said, “Amit Shah is on his mission to cover seven states including Assam, West Bengal, Telangana, AP, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Odisha. With his campaigns in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala being successful, it is Telangana and AP that are to be watched out now. Many, including former chief ministers and ministers, are likely to join the BJP in both states.”
