Amit Shah has lunch at Dalit party worker’s home

Rohtak: BJP president Amit Shah, along with other senior leaders of the party, today had lunch at the house of a Dalit party worker here.

Shah had lunch with the Dalit worker’s family here on the last day of his three-day visit to Haryana.

“Had lunch at our party worker Tarawati Devi’s place. I thank her and her family for playing host,” Shah tweeted later sharing the pictures as well.

The BJP chief was accompanied by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Haryana ministers Ram Bilas Sharma, Anil Vij, Capt Abhimanyu, O P Dhankar, Manish Grover, besides senior party leaders Anil Jain, Ganeshi Lal and state BJP chief Subhash Barala.

Tarawati Devi served simple yet delicious vegetarian meal inspite of a short notice of two hours given to her, Ram Bilas Sharma told reporters later.

Only a few days back, Shah had lunch at the home of a Yadav worker in Uttar Pradesh. These visits to workers’ homes are also being seen as an outreach to various sections.

Sharma said that the party did not believe in any kind of discrimination on the basis of caste or creed, and all workers were accorded equal respect. Such get-togethers make the workers feel valued, he emphsised.

Manish Kumar Grover, a party legislator from Rohtak, said that it was a tradition for senior leaders of the party to visit the homes of party workers and have food there.

Earlier addressing party workers, Shah said that till the time even a single person remains hungry in this country, a child remains deprived of education or a farmer’s field does not get water, “we workers have no right to rest”.

The BJP believes that the last man standing in the queue has to benefit from various schemes, Shah told workers. He also stressed that at every single booth the party has to be strengthened.

With an eye on the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Shah is travelling across states to strategise and find ways to strengthen the party at the grass-root level.
