Raipur, January 30:Amit Jogi, son of Congress leader and Chhattisgarh’s former chief minister Ajit Jogi, was arrested Sunday in the state’s Raigarh district for violating ban on assembly of five or more people.
Jogi was arrested at Hati village on way to Dharmajaygarh town, about 300 km from here, where he planneed to lead a protest Monday against a public hearing for aluminium major BALCO.
“Jogi and three of his supporters have been arrested under section 151 (knowingly joining or continuing in gathering of five or more persons after it has been commanded to disperse) of the IPC,” Raigarh police chief Rahul Sharma told IANS over phone.
The Vedanta Resources Plc-controlled BALCO in which Indian government holds 49 percent stake, is striving to get mining rights of 1070 hectare coal mine area at Dharmajaygarh to feed coal to its captive power plant at Korba.
