Kareemnagar: With the Sixty-first Amendment of the Constitution of India, officially known as The Constitution (Sixty-first Amendment) Act, 1988, the government lowered the voting age of elections to the Lok Sabha and to the Legislative Assemblies of States from 21 years to 18 years.
However, electoral officials have issued voter ID to a 3-year-old girl to exercise her franchise in Kareem Nagar. Her age is mentioned 35 years in the electoral roll and she has been issued voter ID no YOJ8588352.
M Sri Nandita, a resident of Maruti Nagar, Kareem Nagar, is the student of LKG in Bharateeya Vidhya Kendra High School. Though she is just 3 years old and is the student of LKG her age is mentioned as35 years in the card and her photograph taken at the age of one year has been put up.
Her father M Ramesh was taken by surprise when the voter ID card was delivered in the name of his 3-year-old daughter.
It must be mentioned that there have been big blunders in the voters’ list with regard to names, categories, age and place of the voters.
Meanwhile, opposition parties have alleged that the electoral officers have deleted the names of a number of SCs, OBCs and BCs from the electoral rolls by mistake.
