Lucknow, July 15: Amid violent protests over power crisis in his Parliamentary constituency and subsequent police action against the demonstrators, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi will visit Amethi on Friday.
This will be Rahul’s first visit to Amethi after the Lok Sabha polls.
“Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to hold Assembly segment-wise meetings with the party workers and polling agents at Salon, Jagdishpur, Tiloi, Gauriganj and Amethi during his day-long tour,” party sources said here Wednesday.
“He would also meet people injured in police lathicharge on July 13 during a protest against power crisis in the constituency and would inquire into the incident,” sources said.
Meanwhile, Rahul’s representatives Manoj Mattoo and KL Sharma have already reached Amethi and held a meeting today with respective in-charge of Assembly segments, block and panchayats.
UPCC president Reeta Bahuguna Joshi yesterday visited Amethi and met those injured in police lathicharge.
