AMETHI: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday received a rousing welcome by saffron-clad Shiva devotees, known as ‘kanwariyas’ when reached his Lok Sabha constituency after his Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
Hundreds of Kanwariyas or ‘Shiv bhakts’ at Fursatganj started shouting ‘Bam Bam Bhole.’ The youngsters also presented him with a portrait of Shiva and referred as “Shiv Bhakt Rahul Gandhi.”

With a scarf around his neck and sandalwood paste and a tilak or a red mark, the Amethi MP took part in a ‘puja.’
Party’s block president Indrapal Mali, who is also the president of the ‘kanwariya’ union of the area organised the special welcome for the Congress chief.
“Amethi is like home to Rahul Gandhi and Mansarovar is the most pious Hindu pilgrimage. Hence, the party president deserves that religious welcome,” Congress leader to News18.
