American University attack was orchestrated from ‘other side of Durand Line’: Afghanistan

Kabul [Afghanistan]: After investigations into the recent attack on the American University in its national capital, Afghanistan has hinted that the attack was orchestrated by miscreants in Pakistan.

“Evaluation of evidence and findings from traces of the attack by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) show that it was organized and orchestrated from the other side of the Durand Line. Further investigation of the attack is ongoing,” said a statement from the office of the President on Thursday.

The statement said an extraordinary session of the National Security Council reviewed details of the terrorist attack last night on the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF).

During the meeting, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani spoke by phone with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and asked for serious and practical measures against the terrorists organizing the attack.

To this, General Sharif promised that Islamabad will evaluate the case and brief Kabul on the taken measures.

“Based on the recent information, one professor, seven students, two security guards of the university and three personnel of the National Security and Defense Forces were martyred while nine policemen and 36 students and staff of the university were injured,” read the statement.

It was also decided that all available resources will be used to assist families of the martyrs and treat the injured, and the needed resources will be provided for urgent reconstruction and rehabilitation of the university.

A group of militants launched a coordinated attack on the American University in Kabul this evening.

The attack was launched after the militants detonated a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) near the university compound with the remaining militants starting gun attack, reported Khaama Press.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the incident. (ANI)
