Jodhpur, September 27: Police today charged an American teenager with murder, one-and-a-half-month after his mother was found dead with her throat slit in a resort in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur district.
The charge-sheet, comprising 175 pages, against Jon Carlo Patten was filed in a Juvenile court here, Manish Vyas, the teenager’s counsel, told PTI.
US citizen Cindy Iannarelli was brutally murdered in the desert resort near Osian on the intervening night of September 12-13 allegedly by 16-year-old Patten.
Charges of murder (sec 302 of the IPC) and destruction of evidence (sec 201 IPC) were filed against Patten, Vyas said adding the trial in the case would begin next month.
According to section 33 of the Juvenile Justice Act, the hearings should be completed in four months.
Police had filed the charge-sheet in the court on Friday but the presiding officer had returned it saying it contained several shortcomings.
