American Supreme Court decided in favour of Muslim woman who wore ‘hijab’

Ms. Samantha Elauf was denied a job in 2008 by Abercrombie & Fitch Co Clothing Store in Oklahoma because she wearing head scarf (Hijab). She filed a petition in a court which decided on a 8-1 vote a win to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), a federal agency which sued the company on her behalf.

The company denied Ms. Elauf the job on the pretext that wearing the scarf violated “Look Policy” of the company. This policy was meant to promote the brand’s East Coast collegiate image.
