The prejudiced policemen, their ill-treatment and the prison bars all together could not shackle Mohammed Amer’s determination who languished in jail for 14 years for the uncommitted crime. His father put all his efforts to prove his 19-year-old son innocent, and lost all his fortune. He met with his Creator with his wish unfulfilled. Amer’s mother had got her eye on the door, just waiting for her son to walk in and give her a hug. Finally after 14 years of anxious wait, truth prevailed and Mohammed Amer was acquitted.
35-year-old, Mohammed Amer, resident of Delhi was arrested by the Delhi police on February 27, 1998 on terror charges. He was just 19 at that time.
Instead of getting disappointed by the tragedy now Amer has taken up the task of imparting education to the children. He is getting complete support from Siasat Daily, Tameer Charitable Trust and Faiz-e-Aam Trust in his Endeavour.
Recently Siasat editor Mr. Zahed Ali Khan, Managing editor Zaheeruddin Ali khan, Secretary Faiz-e-Aam Trust Mr. Iftekhar Husain and Trustee Rizwan Hyder visited Tameer-e-Millat Education Centre and encouraged children and teachers.
Mohammed Amer is a role model for the educated and well off youth who fail to play any significant role in the educational progress of the community despite being educated and well off. It is heartening to see that a youth who was wrongly implicated in 20 terror cases, who lost 14 precious years of his life in jail for uncommitted crime, whose father died with his wish of his son’s release unfulfilled and mother became paralyzed, has started a new journey by a ray of hope instead of loosing heart.
