Indian Language Newspapers’ Association opposed the proposed amendments in the Press and Registration of Books Act 1867. It said that these amendments are very harsh and they could be used against the publishers to harass them.
Mr. Harishnath, President of the Association told this in a meeting held yesterday in Hyderabad. He appealed to all the institutions to oppose these amendments. They are a strong blow on the freedom of the Press. He requested the organizations to get united to oppose it.
