Mr. Hadi Ali President All India Shia Organization and former member of A.P. State Wakf Board pointed out that the amended Wakf Act of 1995 makes a provision for the nomination of a Shia member in the Wakf Board. Since the nominated members are neither eligible to exercise their vote, nor they can participate in the election of the Chairman of Wakf Board. He sent a protest note to Central Wakf Minister, Mr. K. Rahman Khan.
He told that there are 11 thousand registered Shia Wakf properties. No financial aid is released for their maintenance. The staff working in Maula Ali and Thirumulgherry, Diara Meer Momin etc. are not getting adequate salaries. The managing committee of Dargah Hazrath Meer Momin has not yet been reconstituted. Thousands of acres of lands under Maula Ali and Imam Zamin Wakf properties are being misused. No member of the Wakf Board is supporting the cause of the Shia’s. He requested the Chairman of Wakf Board, Shia MLC and member of Wakf Board Mr. Altaf Hyder Rizvi and Mr. M.A. Khan, M.P. to do justice to the Shia community.
