Hyderabad, April 14: Not many know but Dr B R Ambedkar used to get threatening letters when he was alive.
In fact, his greatness was such that he used to give replies to such threatening letters in a kind and polite manner.
One such rare letter was put on display in Salar Jung Museum at the photo exhibition on Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar on Wednesday.
“I have been getting letters threatening my life. They are all not paid. I have been telling my secretary that, in law, when we hang a man we don’t inflict a fine on him. Why should these assassins fine me by sending non-paid letters in addition to taking my life. I am glad your father is keeping well. Tell him that I shall be delighted to hear from him if he cares to write to me, With kindest regards, I am yours sincerely B R Ambedkar” reads the letter.
A rich collection of several such texts and photographs of Ambedkar interested visitors to Salar Jung Museums.
The photos included snaps of Ambedkar with various freedom fighters, his family members and those showing his participation in various discussions in the Parliament and abroad.
