Maulana Azad National Urdu University organized a seminar on “Ambedkar and Muslims” on the occasion on 125th Birthday of Dr. Ambedkar. Dr. Khwaja Mohammed Shahid, In-Charge VC of Urdu University presided over the seminar. Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Pradeep Nago Rao of Nagpur University told that Dr. Ambedkar desired the unity of Dalits and the Muslims. In the Second Round Table Conference Dr. Ambedkar pleaded for reservation for Muslims. Mr. Agha Khan supported him whereas Gandhi opposed him.
Dr. Shahid in his presidential speech told that Dr. Ambedkar was a great leader of India. Mr. Subba Rao, IAS (Retd.) told that Dr. Ambedkar was elected to Constituent Assembly only with the support of the Muslims. Although he did not accept Islam but all his sympathies were with the Muslims. Dr. Kancha Ilaiah, Director of the Center for Social Exclusion and Inclusive policy of Urdu University told that it is wrong to say that Ambedkar was against the Muslim.
