New Delhi: e-commerce major Amazon’s home and kitchen segment announced a growth of nearly 165 percent for the January to June period as compared to the last year.
Hoping for sustainability or better figures during the remaining months of the calendar year, the company announced a 200 percent surge in its home category.
Also, the kitchen segment witnessed a growth by 135 percent during the review period.
“With 45,000 sellers on its platform, the company has witnessed a strong growth in the category from the tier-II and tier-III cities with nearly 60 percent of the orders coming from outside the top eight cities in the country,” said Director Category Management of Amazon Sellers Services Pvt Ltd., Sumit Sahay.
The growth rate in Tamil Nadu witnessed a surge of 160 percent with kitchen storage, containers and tools like screwdrivers being the most popular sub-category.
In tune with the national trend, home was the fastest growing sub-category, which witnessed 200 percent growth in the last one year, he said.
Sahay added that Coimbatore was the most active city under the home and kitchen category, accounting for nearly 10 percent demand from the state. (ANI)
