Amazon to start voice support to low-end Kindle

New York: Amazon is reportedly looking to develop on its existing ‘Audible’ feature, available on its Kindle Oasis, in a bid to bring it to the low-end model as well.

On the waterproof Oasis model, users can take to Audible, coupled with either a set of Bluetooth headphones or speakers. According to Kindle’s product page, the U.S.-based e-commerce giant is looking to this to its cheapest model of kindles in months to come, along the lines of the offerings of Oasis, reports The Verge.

While the offering is slated to be available as an over-the-air-update, the report suggests that only the Oasis and basic model can avail the same, while the Paperwhite and the Voyage will not support it.

Given the rising popularity of audio books in the recent past, the integration between Audible (Amazon subsidiary) and the Kindle is being perceived as a positive move.

Furthermore, Audible is now producing its own, original content, such as James Patrick Kelley’s ‘Mother Go’ or John Scalzi’s ‘The Dispatcher’, implying that Audible members will soon be able to access all of their purchases on one device.
