Mumbai: To empower and encourage women entrepreneurs, the online retailer Amazon has launched a new Programme ‘Amazon Saheli.’
The Online retailer has collaborated with organizations like SEWA (Self-employed Women’s Association) and Impulse Social enterprise to give boost to women empowerment.
Now the women entrepreneurs associated with this portal will have the facility to sell their products online through e-commerce platform. Initially these products will include handicrafts, apparel, handbags and home décor items. Later it will be expanded to include products of various categories.
Gopal Pillai, director and general manager, seller services, at Amazon India said that “As a part of our commitment to transform how India buys and sells by enabling small entrepreneurs to scale up, we’ve now focused on the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs here to gain visibility and access to resources.”
