Amazon drops ‘Doormats with Islamic texts’, CAIR hails decision

Washington: Amazon finally decided to drop doormats and bath mats with Islamic inscriptions containing references to Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) and Quranic verses from the list of its items.

According to the report published in The Arabic American, CAIR, Muslim Civil Rights and Advocacy Organization hailed the decision of the company.

It may be mentioned that the organization had received many complaints in this regard.

Executive Director of CAIR, Mr. Masih Fouladi thanked Amazon and said that manufacturers of such items will now come to know that profit cannot be made by spreading Islamophobia.

Meanwhile, Amazon’s spokesperson told that items are removed as it violates retailer’s policy.

CAIR National Executive Director, Mr. Nihad Awad thanked persons who had brought these items to the notice of CAIR.

It may be recalled that earlier too, items spreading Islamaphobia were dropped.
