Alwar Lynching: Policemen suspended for ‘Foul play’

New Delhi: Fresh new developments into the Alwar lynching reveals the Rajasthan Police have suspended the Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police(ASI) after the activists protested against the Rajasthan Government for not taking appropriate measures in controlling the mob violence.

Three other constables who were also involved in beating up Akbar Khan were also transferred along with the suspension of ASI, DC reported.

“Three accused have been arrested. The Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) has been suspended and three constables have been sent to district lines. Thorough investigation is being done in the matter,” NRK Reddy, Rajasthan Special Director General of Police said today.

After the allegations of the Policemen’s involvement in the lynching of Akbar before taking him to the hospital has spurred nationwide controversy, the Rajasthan Government has suspended the ASI in-charge of the case.

“We have no information yet of victim being thrashed in custody but yes prima facie we have found that there was indeed an error in judgment in deciding what was important at that point,” Reddy added.

While the Ministry of Home Affairs has sought a report on the same.
