Dehradun, March 08: Uttarakhand Governor Margaret Alva today announced various schemes for women that included Rs 20 lakh stamp duty exemption limit on purchase of property, Nanda Devi Kanya Yojna and free solar cookers. Exemption limit on stamp duty for property purchase for women has been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, Alva said in her maiden speech on the opening day of the budget session of the assembly here.
The government has also launched Nanda Devi Kanya Yojana earmarking a fund of Rs 16 crore in the current fiscal year. Under the scheme, a girl child born on or after Jan 1, 2009 in below poverty level (BPL) families would get Rs 5,000 as fixed deposit.
Similarly, a special programme ”Monal” has been launched to provide employment and quality training for teenaged girls. Solar cookers will be provided to women who are dependent on firewood for fuel in the hilly region.
In the first phase, the scheme would be launched in Pauir district. The state government has commissioned hydro-power projects with capacities of 3,143 MW and projects generating another 14,820 MW power are under development, the Governor added.
