Shimoga, April02:A local court today sentenced a taluk welfare officer to three years simple imprisonment for demanding a bribe from a poor parent for giving a caste certificate for the school admission of his son.
The District Sessions Court sentenced D B Shivaprakash, talulk welfare officer of Sorab to three years simple imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 3,000 for demanding a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a poor parent who sought a caste
certificate for admission of his son to school in 2007.
The parent, Lokesh filed a complaint before Lokayukta against Shivaprakash and the case was filed in sessions court.
