Allam’s appeals to Telangana people to boycott World Telugu Conference

Telangana Journalists’ Forum convener and “Namaste Telangana” Telugu daily Editor Allam Narayana has appealed to the people, writers and intellectuals of the region to boycott the ensuing World Telugu Conference scheduled to be held at Tirupati in December this year.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday, Narayana said that it was not proper for the government to conduct the event even as some 850 people have committed suicide for cause of separate Telangana State. He alleged that the Seemandhra leaders were once again trying to eclipse separate Telangana agitation by conducting World Telugu conference when separate Telangana State was in the offing. He also alleged that the Seemandhra leaders were conspiring to obscure Telanagana language and dialect in the name of World Telugu Conference. He demanded that the State government immediately withdraw its decision to conduct the conference scheduled to be held at Tirupati in
December. He also threatened that they would organize “World Telangana Telugu Conference” if the State government failed to withdraw the event. He said that it was very unfortunate that the elected public representatives of the Telangana region were not responding even as the government had released Rs 25 crores for conduct the World Telugu Conference.
Stating that TDP founder-president and former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao had suppressed the Telangana agitation in the name of Telugu language, he urged the Seemandhra leaders to organize ‘World Telugu conference’ only after separate Telangana State was formed.
Telangana Praja Front vice-president Veda Kumar said that the State government was trying to derail the Telangana agitation by conducting ‘World Telugu Conference’ in the name of Telugu language.
Telangana Rachayithala Vedika convener Juluri Gowri Shankar said that World Telugu Conference was only Seemandhra language conference. He questioned the State government as how it could organize ‘World Telugu Conference’ when separate Telangana agitation was going on in the State.Telangana Vidyavanthula Vedika convener Mallepally Laxmaiah was also present.
