Lucknow: Yogi Government is using encounter as a key weapon to maintain law and order in the state, despite the fact that the National Human Rights Commission has time and again objected to its policy and issued notices seeking clarification. However, the government continued to implement the policy. Now the Allahabad high court has also raised the question on the encounter policy.
Allahabad High Court on Wednesday issued the notice to Yogi Adityanath government in the fake encounter case of one Furqan in Muzaffarnagar last year and has asked for a reply within three weeks. It has asked the government does police has a license to shoot anyone? Court’s comment came during the hearing of the Furqan encounter case which was heard on Wednesday.
According to Furqan’s father, Mir Hasan who filed the petition his son was picked up from the market when he went to shopping along with his wife. Later police killed him and started telling that he was killed in an encounter. He said had he been killed in an encounter why police hesitated to hand over the body for so long and didn’t disclose about the encounter. Furqan’s father learnt about the encounter of his only son only after he visited Anees and Rahul, who are in Muzaffarnagar jail.
The advocate Syed Farman Naqvi who is following up the case also said that police story is fabricated and has several discrepancies. He said being an awarded criminal doesn’t give police the license to kill him.
The High Court has also ordered the SSP and CJM Muzaffarnagar to serve notice to 16 personnel of the police and STF who were involved in the encounter. The hearing in the case will commence after three weeks.
