Ranchi: Rolling out the National Food Security Act in Jharkhand today, Chief Minister Raghubar Das announced that widows would be given housing and pension and the government would make budgetary provisions next fiscal.
“All widows will be brought under social security, they will be given housing facilities and pension,” an official release quoting Das said.
Inaugurating the Food Security Act in the state, Das said his government’s commitment was to provide assured grains to the last person in the line as dreamt by Deendayal Upadhyay.
Das committed that the government would implement the Act transparently and biometric system would soon be introduced in the public distribution system to bring in transparency in distribution of grains.
Food and Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Minister Saryu Roy said 51 lakh families would benefit under the scheme, adding the beneficiaries would get both rice and wheat.
