‘An All time’ High alert for PM Modi, Security beefed up

New Delhi: The Home Ministry has issued a warning- advisory to all states about an ‘all-time high’ threat to PM Modi following which no one can come close too close PM without the clearance of his special security.

Ministers too are no exceptional to this said the Ministry. All state Police Chiefs have been cautioned by the Ministry of an ‘unknown threat’ to PM, NDTV reported.

The National Security Council told that PM Modi “is the most valuable target in the run-up to the 2019 general elections.”

“The threat always has been there but after this Naxal threat, we have made each agency aware of the new threats to the PM,” a senior officer, referring to the recent Pune Police claim that an assassination plan was foiled after the Police seized a letter from a suspected Maoist.

Sources say PM Modi, has been advised to cut down rod shows as the roadshows present a bigger threat.

According to the Union Ministry’s advisory, no one is allowed to be in close quarters with the PM, which is the basic rule to be followed strictly, along with less public contact, said the top sources.

Even ministers and officers are likely to be screened by the Special Protection Group (SPG), which is in charge of protecting the Prime Minister said the sources.

A security official said, “We have briefed our personnel about the new assessments and have given them a new set of rules to be followed.”

“Special instructions have been given to the close protection team (CPT) around the PM. No one can be in close proximity of the PM if not needed,” he adds.

This CPT team always moves with the Prime Minister. A number of tactical team of commandos will also accompany Modi.

Last month, a man managed to break through this six layers of security to touch PM Modi’s feet in West Bengal.

“We can’t give him instructions but we have requested him to be little careful regarding his public engagements,” says the officer, adding that he a Public figure and Modi is expected to address several rallies for the upcoming 2019 elections.

The home ministry has worked on marking Moaist-hit areas where PM needs to be extra- protection. “The PM travels to Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal even Punjab. These are to be taken more seriously than others,” adds a source.

Security agencies are believed to be specially monitoring the Kerala-based Popular Front of India (PFI), an outfit that the government believes is a front for terror groups.
