Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today informed the Assembly that the State government initiated steps to fill all the tanks located between the Kakathiya Canal and the SRSP Flood Canal.
Replying to questions raised by the TRS members Gangula Kamalakar, Kalvakuntla Vidyasagar Rao and Bodiga Shobha during Question Hour here on Thursday, Harish Rao said irrigation water has been provided to nine lakh acres with the clearance of silt in the tanks under Mission Kakathiya scheme. He said seven tanks would get water through Kaleswaram and SRSP Restoration Scheme in Karimnagar district.
The water would remain for the entire year in the flood canals and tanks water would be available to two crops. He said irrigation and drinking water would be provided through Nagulamalyala reservoir. Water will be provided to Choppadandi while extending flood canal from 80 km to 96 km, he added. (NSS)
