All T Ministers to meet HC on statehood Bill

Hyderabad, February 12: Minister for Backward Classes Welfare Basavaraj Saraiah on Friday exuded confidence that the separate Telangana statehood agitation would get a fresh impetus after Ministers from the region meet the Congress High Command to mount pressure on the leadership on the issue.

All Ministers from the region have decided to form a delegation and meet the Congress top brass to press for their demand of a separate state. However, the date of the proposed meeting has not been finalised yet.

Speaking to media persons at the Secretariat on Friday, Mr Saraiah expressed the hope that the proposed meeting would galvanise action not only by the Centre but also by the separate statehood protagonists.

When asked to comment on the Teachers’ JAC protest and their decision to start non-cooperation against the Census’ 2011 work, the Minister did not reply. He tried to clarify that the High Command was seized of the matter and the decision on the Telangana Bill rests with it.

Referring to the Racha Banda, the Minister spoke in appreciation of the Telangana people who swarmed the programme.
