All set for pulse polio programme today

Hyderabad, February 07: As part of the National Immunisation Programme, as many as 6,01,358 children below five years will be administered polio drops here during the second phase of pulse polio programme to be held tomorrow.

Governor’s wife Vimala Narasimhan will administer polio drops at the Raj Bhavan at 10 am tomorrow while Minister for Health and Family Welfare Danam Nagender will administer the same at an Anganwadi centre in Banjara Hills.

A total of 3,200 polio booths have been set up to administer polio drops to children aged between 0-5 years across the twin cities. In addition, 385 mobile teams are being pressed into service to cover children of migrated families, temples, gurudwaras, churches, mosques, marriage halls, construction sites, public parks temporary settlements and markets.

As many as 12,800 personnel have been deployed for polio programme from all the departments. Nursing students, ASHAs, anganwadi workers, medical students, NCC, Scouts & Guides, community volunteers and self-help groups wll take part in the programme.

The children who missed the drops will be covered by house-tohouse visits by the teams from February 8 to 10.
Polio centres will also be operated at all transit points like railway stations and bus stations which will be working round-the-clock from the midnight of February 6 to Feb 10.

In Hyderabad, the pulse polio programme is being taken up jointly by the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) and Greater Hyderab a d M u n i c i p a l Cor porat i o n (GHMC).
