All set for Municipal elections: Ramakanth

State Election Commissioner Ramakanth Reddy today said they have made elaborate arrangements for municipal elections on Sunday.
Speaking to mediapersons at his Buddha Bhavan chambers in Secunderabad, Ramakanth said adequate police force, including 41 DSPs, 51 CIs, 13 special police and 16 companies of Central forces were deployed for smooth and fair polls. He said besides webcasting, videography and micro observers, they would keep continuous vigil on the polling process to begin at 7 am and conclude at 5 pm. Counting of votes will be taken up only after a directive of the Court on April 1 and results will be declared later, he said. As per a directive of High Court, elections at Banaganapalle in Kurnool district were postponed, while a show-cause notice was issued against an APPSC member Nauman.
Ramakanth Reddy said the elections for MPTCs and ZPTCs will be held on April 6 and 11 results will be announced after general elections. Keeping the elections in view, the Election Commission has advised the SSC Board to postpone examinations scheduled to be held on April 10 and 11, he added. In the wake of model code of conduct, the police during their check-ups have so far seized Rs 59.17 crores and 1.79 lakh liters of liquor, he added. (NSS)
