All set for International Plastic Exhibition from Aug 8

Elaborate arrangements have been made for the International Plastics Exhibition – IPLEX 2014 to be held in the city from August 8th to 11th at Hitex Exhibition Centre.

Addressing a press conference here, IPLEX-14 Convener V Anil Reddy informed that the 4-day Mega Plastics Show, which was conceived and nursed to promote the growth fo plastics processing industries in South India, will be formally inaugurated by Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar.

The Expo is being organised by the Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerela and Karnataka Plastics Manufacturers Association, jointly with Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology. It is supported by Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizer, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Plastic India Foundation, All India Plastics Manufacturers Association, Indian Plastics Institute, Gujarat State Plastics Manufacturers Association, Indian Plastics Federation and others.

As many as 250 exhibitors from India and from 10 other countries are expected to participate and showcase their products. Spread over 11,000 sq metres in 3 AC Halls, it will be the biggest fair for plastics in South India. The organisers are expecting the business of nearly $ 100 million during these four days.

Anil Reddy said that the South India’s potential in plastic business is put at $ 2.6 billion. The projected consumption of plastics is put at 2.5 million tons per annum. The growth of Polymer Consumption is 18-20% in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh alone. The present processing capacities are 1.2 million tons per annum and there is a scope for additional processing capacities of 1.3 million tones per annum.

He said South India offers an excellent atmosphere for industrial growth in general and Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, in particular, with the availability of peace loving and committed skilled work force.

AP Plastic Manufacturers Association President Venugopal Reddy also addressed the press conference.
