All-Party Meet On Babli Verdict Wants Clarification From Sc On Safeguard To AP Interests

The second all-party meeting on Babli Barrage Judgment held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy here at the Secretariat this afternoon, unanimously decided to seek Review/Clarification from Supreme Court to further safeguard the interests of Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister also suggested that all party leaders, whoever having good knowledge and interest may accompany the Major Irrigation Minister P. Sudarsan Reddy to Delhi for review/clarification from SC. He also agreed to utilize services of a senior Supreme Court Advocate for this appeal suggested by the Opposition parties’ leaders. The Chief Minister opined that after receipt of a favorable direction from Supreme Court on the Review/Clarification, the State government would request the Centre to convene a joint meeting with Maharashtra Government on the issue.
The Chief Minister and all the leaders strongly opined unanimously that the Supervisory Committee for the Compliance of Judgment should be empowered with executive powers for implementation of its directives. The meeting also opined that in case of defiance/violation of directives of the committee, stringent penalty need to be levied as determined by Supreme Court. The Chief Minister agreed to add suitable suggestions from all party leaders on the Review/Clarification appeal proposal and directed the officials accordingly.

The Chief Minister opined that the executive powers and authorities to the Supervisory committee should flow from Parliament for effective enforcement of implementation of the judgement.
CM’S DIRECTIVE TO OFFICIALS
The Chief Minister has directed the Officials to convene an all party meeting on the “Final Agreement proposed with Maharashtra Government” on Pranahita-Chevella Project for sharing the information and to take suggestions.
